Requirements for appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Be a holder of at least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution in Kenya
- Be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Critical Care
- Be registered by the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya
- Possess a valid Practicing License from the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya
- Must be computer literate
Duties and responsibilities
The Clinical Officer – Emergency and Critical Care shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- To Ensure that the critical care centers are clean and in the right conditions to provide the conducive environment needed by the patients
- Ensuring that the critical care centers have all the machinery, equipment and materials needed to provide critical care to patients admitted into the critical care centers of the hospital.
- Setting up, monitoring and ensuring that medical equipment and devices such as patient monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, or pressure lines among others are functioning properly in the facility.
- Receive patients in critical conditions that are referred to the critical care centers and book them in for advanced care and attention in the facility.
- Monitoring patients’ progress and changes in status and indications of their health conditions.
- Administer the prescribed therapeutic procedures to patients
- Maintaining medical records, health information and data at the Critical Care Centers in the hospital
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
